About

Hello!

Hello everyone

My name is Chris and I’m a photographer and writer, keen conservationist, environmentalist and organic gardener of 30 years. I aim to share a journey with you that began with moving house in November 2011.

My new home has  120ft of garden backing onto fields, is a characterful 1940s bay fronted semi and the only trade-off is a busy main road at the front. That isn’t a problem for us as we both work from home so now have a project on our hands. We want to improve the energy efficiency of the house, develop the garden into an organic growers paradise, with room for fruit, veg and wildlife. Come with me as we encounter and solve problems, find ecologically helpful solutions and give you hints and tips for your home and garden.

I also have a photography blog. It’s here on WordPress and shares my explorations and experiments, as well as giving hints and tips whenever I can. You’re very welcome to visit and comment, so don’t be shy.

  1. Dear Chris, I am a PhD student working on the topic of ragweed. I would like to use some of your photos in my presentation of the PhD thesis. Would this be ok for you? What should I put as an acknowledgement (short statement on the corresponding slide of the presentation)? Best Wishes, Katrin

    • Hello Katrin.
I am flattered you would like to use my shots for your thesis. You are of course welcome to use them, and good luck with your work. If you could possibly credit me with copyright to Chris Cafferkey that would be great. If in addition there’s any chance you could spread the word about my work on istock I’d be very grateful. Here’s a link. http://www.istockphoto.com/portfolio/chriscafferkey#62c3a3 You might want to have a look as I do a lot of flower and plant photography, the best of which is shown in this portfolio.
      All the best
      Chris
